In dieser Vorbereitung ingestive Verhaltensweisen - sowohl Beißen und Schlucken - und können egestive Verhaltensweisen (Ablehnung) ausgelöst werden, zur gleichen Zeit als einzelne Neuronen aufgenommen werden können und angeregt mit extrazellulären Elektroden 6. Die Zustellbewegungen mit diesen verschiedenen Verhaltensweisen zugeordnet werden Recor seinded, quantifiziert und direkt an die motorischen Programmen verwandt. Die Motor-Programme in der aufgehängten Masse bukkalen Herstellung zu sein scheinen ähnlich zu denen in vivo als werden motorischen Programmen ausgelöste in isolierten Ganglien beobachtet. Somit können die Programme in diesem Motor Zubereitung betragen mehr direkt zu in vivo Verhalten in Bezug, zur gleichen Zeit, sind einzelne Neuronen besser zugänglich, um die Aufnahme und Stimulation als in intakten Tieren. Darüber, wie ein Zwischenschritt zwischen isolierten Ganglien und intakten Tieren, Erkenntnisse aus der abgehängten bukkalen Masse kann bei der Interpretation der Daten sowohl in reduzierter und intakte Einstellungen erhalten helfen. Der suspendierte bukkalen Masseaufbereitung ist ein nützliches Werkzeug für die Charakterisierung der neuronalen Steuerung der Multifunktionalität in Aplysia.
