Xenopus tornou-se uma ferramenta importante para dissecar os mecanismos que regem o desenvolvimento craniofacial e defeitos. Um método para quantificar o desenvolvimento orofacial irá permitir uma análise mais rigorosa dos fenótipos orofaciais mediante revogação com substâncias que podem manipular geneticamente ou molecularmente a expressão do gene ou a função da proteína.
